Our New Home in Fairbanks.

Hello Friends & Family!
We are not really settled yet in our new home, but because we want to share our happenings with family & friends from one coast to the other & even a couple as far away as Antarctica.
Why we moved? Trapper needed more then we could ever find in Skagway. After waiting for
Speech & Language therapy for over a year, we found out that in Southeast Alaska the waiting list is long and at the end of the wait there isn't even a therapist. So, no light at the end of the tunnel. At first I didn't really believe this, even though it was a woman working for the State who made me aware of this. After calling several other agencies & doing a little research, I was just angry. Why didn't they tell us this a year ago. So, we moved to Fairbanks. We have been asked by several family & friends why we didn't move to the lower 48. Besides the fact that we love Alaska, the other big reason is that it took nearly two years to get a diagnosis & insurance through the state of Alaska for our son. This was not an easy road. I fought hard to get us this far, (we both did), if we were to move to another state we would have to start all over. Every day we feel we are loosing our child...if early intervention is the key to helping Trapper then we will break down doors to get him this help. We want our son back! I want to hear his voice, just once I want to hear him call me mommy. That is our reason for moving here.

Do we like it here? Yes! We love it so far. Although we don't know a soul here. We love our new house. We love the snow, the cold is a little harsh but brings us back a few years to the bitter Antarctic cold. Here you mostly see little children on the playground with ice buggies...it makes me laugh because it was the grown men at Pole that actually had pride in this disgusting display.
Ah, we miss those crazy people.:)
Well, I have to get sleep so I can get the kids on the buses in the morning. Last week Trappers bus was late by 30 to 40 minutes every morning, except Friday when they just decided not to bother. He only has 2 1/2 hours of school and he missed at least an hour every morning. I was furious & after several steamed phone calls I was promised that on Monday morning his bus would be here @ 8:35am. His school day starts at 9 am and his school is 20 min. away.
We dress the kids for the below zero temperatures and walk up to the top of our driveway to meet the buses. Katie's bus is in the local district, but her school doesn't have a special needs program or a pre-school program. Her bus is always on time almost to the minute.

God Bless!
- Jami

P.S. Check back for remodel pictures. I
know we just bought the house, but Rob has been really busy.
